Just came across this, in love with how fun it sounds, keeping that moving forward feel you hear with a lot of pirate-type music lol; those instruments you chose are pretty clean, especially that FM bass (I think).

Thinking about artists you were inspired by, is Waterflame one of them that's "in secret"? I'm getting the same vibes from some of his works, excellent work btw! :)

Preds responds:

Thank you! Yes, Waterflame was definitely the biggest inspiration for this :D

6 years of listening and I still adore this remix. The detuned reverby noise of the piano/bell instrument creates a very chilly feel alongside the reverb filled pads which make me visualize a city among a snowy mountain, it's a very weird feel, but one that I love.

P.S. By the way, I saw you below mention that after 9 years you could make it cleaner and improved, I WOULD LOVE THAT. I'd love to hear this song with a much cleaner and wider mix and master, perhaps some extra elements could add to the track, hell you could probably do a "VIP" version of the song that takes this song and puts it in a different key, and maybe amps or lets the energy down a bit. (hell I'd love to get my hands on stems and play around with this remix specifically but I know it's been a long time and you probably don't have them anymore)

SmokeAvery responds:

I'll let you know when I get around to it. Glad that you liked it

oh my god dude this is great, this is how more remakes should be- no offence towards the original but this version is like so so so much cleaner and i just love it

lantaren responds:

Glad you enjoy it!

I like the sense of familiarity and how you blend into the second Act, the YM2612 is so awesome!

My only complaint is that the drums are a bit loud and the track overall sounds like it has a really nasty bitcrush that kinda ruins it, but other than that; good recreation with your own licks of paint in places.

Doublechindoge7 responds:

Thanks. There were a few different varieties of sound quality the Megadrive was capable of, and for most instruments I decided to go with the one with the highest bit depth for good dynamic range at the cost of a much lower sample rate of 11025Hz. Maybe this was overdoing it with the sample rate reduction, but I liked the sound of it. I thought it was pretty necessary, especially because honestly the Megadrive Electric Guitar sounds are annoyingly high-pitched and weak at the normal sample rate of 44.1Khz imo, but the extra aliasing with the lower sample rate made them sound less whiny and more aggressive to me.

what the fuck you've like massively improved, i remember commenting on one of your tracks from 2017 saying it was bad and now i'm here and this is great, my only complaint is that the synth at the start hurts my ears just a lil bit

Jupitrean responds:

lmao yup I kinda sucked back in the day. Thanks for the review!!

This is pretty cool, I really like it, my only problem is that it's a little bit too messy in my opinion.

Doublechindoge7 responds:

Yeah uh... Mastering Vocoded Granuliser Basses is really hard...

This isn't music, it's just some clicking sounds

KeirrMusicero2018 responds:

I've been improved and there are more musics i have

this song never fails to cheer me up, i love the vibe it gives, especially in the second half, definitely a great song!

quick question, as far as plugins go which native fl plugins where used?

lantaren responds:

I'm not even sure anymore that was almost 4 years ago, But I know that I used a lot of harmor for pretty much everything, maybe sytrus for the pads

This is really nice, It feels quite Nostalgic to me and I just don't know why (Maybe because it's SM64).
Also if you want to use more Nintendo synths but in Higher Quality, consider picking up Roland Sound Canvas.

Skiddle responds:

thanks Chillius! It'll be hard to pick up Roland because I have no fucking money XD. I'm glad you enjoyed this :)

A lot of default FL studio plugins give it its style, that's what I like, what FL studio plugins were used in this though, I know FL slayer, would love to try make my own song with this style!
A great song and very emotive!

Razorrekker responds:

FL Slayer is really the only native FL plugin in this.
I also use Nexus 2 (piano, strings, choir, etc.) and Massive (basses.)
I'd love to see someone else try this style, I think it'd be super cool to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed this!

look i own way too much stuff to list it here
